Confirming our campsite was on the water, I was truly excited to visit an area that I have never been, it was the week of the Eclipse, and 5 1/2 hours from home in KY. The water and setting was very lovely! We arrived on Friday when the campground didn't have many occupants but as the campground filled it became almost claustrophobic. You felt like you could reach out and touch the neighbors. Even though they have strict parking rules, considering the closeness of the RVs, I felt pinned in. It was all gravel with the exception of a few feet on the shoreline. The only place for our pet to use the bathroom was in gravel or in the few feet of grass. Anyway, the next day we glanced out and two tents are going behind our rv on the shore. Needless to say, we got very upset and called the office. The lady stated we didn't have a thing to worry about because she was sending the owner down and he would take care of us. Here comes a maintenance man demanding to know what the problem was, who stated I shouldn't be upset and that the owner goes ballistic when someone raises their voice. The owner arrived and said he could not at all understand why I was upset. I explained that this was part of our vacation week and had confirmed it was "on the water" before booking. He told us we only rented the area our camper was sitting on and that the shoreline was not considered. Anyway, the tents moved to an unoccupied site where they should have been in the first place. It destroyed a good time. I would NEVER go back there.
Love staying here. The campground is clean and the pool is well taken care of. Good place for kids, my daughter loves to ride her bike around the campground. Lots of places to fish on the shore line and off the dock.
Bathrooms and showers are reasonably clean. Extra fee applies to mostly everything, including second tent. Owners are nice and helpful.
Most people "camping" here or rather parking here come for weekends and they spend most of their time burning firewood, eating and some drinking. Many fish - there are many fast and noisy boats on the lake. If you enjoy these "activities" that is a place for you. On the other side of this RV park is busy local road. Certainly not a quiet place in the nature.
This is RV PARK, not a campground.
Too many campers, too close together. Office closed almost all the time. Marina closed at 5pm. Had to go to the gas station for ice in the early morning and evenings. Angela was great but Johnny was rude. I think he was born the in wrong century. Perhaps he would feel more comfortable in 1817 vs 2017.
Very nice, clean and friendly campground. Owners are super sweet and work hard at keeping the place safe yet fun. We have always enjoyed camping here.
As long as you are aware of this you should be fine. This is NOT recommended at all for tent campers. It is all gravel, not that much shade and the sites are tiny - one huge ugly RV next to the other.
